Exciting week this week as we launch a brand new comedy night in a venue that's never held one before - Sutton Arts Theatre in Sutton Coldfield.
I have a connection with the theatre as I've known Dexter - the manager there, since we were both in youth theatre together some 30 years ago (gulp!)
Like me, he's a Walsall lad and, like me, loves stand up comedy so when he asked me a few months ago if we'd be keen on putting a comedy night on there, needless to say I jumped at the chance.
Pub gigs are great but there's something truly special about running a gig in a theatre - after all, they're designed for performances. The stage is better lit than the audience, everyone is facing the right way , the sound and lighting are specifically designed for that space and theatre-goers are more tuned into watching performances than your average pub goer.
Plus, we've got a fantastic lineup of local talent for the first one - including the fantastic Darren Harriot, one of many midlands comedians that's made the move into tv in recent years.
2 more days to go, tickets are selling nicely and we're really looking forward to bringing the laughs!
